Cherry Tree
And I'm pretending what I said meant nothing
And I never put my heart on the line
But like George Washington and the cherry tree
I cannot tell a lie
Because I was scared you know that you might take me seriously
Or else laugh in my face or something.
But like George Washington and the cherry tree
I cannot tell a lie
Things are never as complicated as they seem or as easy as you'd like
But somewhere in the middle
Where things get lost falling in between
And in the middle is where I'm lost because you did neither
What I'd hoped or what I'd feared
But like George Washington and the cherry tree
I cannot tell a lie
What I'd like is not to be lost
Not to be lost and fallen in between.
