Red Wine Friday
i reach out my hands
and a glass of wine -
cheap and red (like blood, in a way) -
is there in the candle light.
wine may not be spilling but i am because listen
that's the truth pouring out there and without that
beyond that there's nothing left to hide behind
and i'm naked as a baby with my clothes still on -
how's that for magic?
like a baby i can't walk on my own two feet
i'll fall if you don't hold me
and i can't dance with you my love (though i want to dance with you)
because i'm already spinning because look
this is the truth i'm giving to you
and if the truth is a kiss what does it mean?
i reach out my hands
and you won't let me fall
and i don't know why you scare me so why you can hurt me so
but maybe it's that there's nothing left to hide behind
and all that i am is in your hands
and maybe you are angels
and if not -
you are the morning with the sunlight streaming in.
